Pet Savers of Shreveport relies on dedicated volunteers to help us carry out our mission of rescuing, protecting, and placing abandoned pets. Whether you have a few hours a week or a few hours a month, your contribution makes a real difference in the lives of animals in need.

Volunteer Opportunities

Animal Care

Help feed, exercise, and socialize dogs and cats. Provide basic grooming and help maintain clean, comfortable living spaces.

Daily feeding and watering
Walking dogs and exercise
Cleaning kennels and cat areas
Basic grooming and bathing
Socializing with animals

Transportation

Help transport animals to veterinary appointments, adoption events, or new homes. Must have reliable vehicle and valid driver's license.

Administrative Support

Assist with office tasks, answer phones, process adoption applications, and help with paperwork and data entry.

Photography & Marketing

Help animals get adopted faster with great photos and promotional materials. Share your creative skills to help pets find homes.

Events & Fundraising

Help organize and staff adoption events, fundraising activities, and community outreach programs.

Foster Care

Provide temporary homes for pets who need extra care, are too young for adoption, or are recovering from medical treatment.

Bottle feeding orphaned puppies/kittens
Caring for pregnant mothers

Emergency temporary care

Volunteer Requirements & Process

Age Requirements

18+ for most volunteer positions
16-17 with parental consent and supervision
Family volunteer opportunities available
Court-ordered community service accepted

Time Commitment

Minimum 2-4 hours per month
Regular schedule preferred but flexible options available
Special event volunteers welcome
Long-term commitment appreciated but not required

Health & Safety

Current tetanus vaccination recommended
Basic animal handling training provided
Must follow safety protocols
Some positions require physical activity
